Technical Assistance & Training
The National Resource and Training Center on Homelessness and Mental IllnessTo enhance the quality of life for homeless people with mental illness and co-occurring substance abuse disorders we are encouraging the field to provide housing, treatment and appropriate supportive services to maintain housing stability. To transform systems such as the mental health and homeless service systems, education and training efforts must be broad based and provide for ongoing and interactive learning. The National Center is a partner in operating The National Resource and Training Center (NRTC) on Homelessness and Mental Illness. NRTC is the only national center specifically focused on the effective organization and delivery of services for people who are homeless and have serious mental illnesses. It provides a vital link between emerging knowledge and everyday practice. We help develop and disseminate information that will help facilitate service systems change and ultimately strengthen outreach, enrollment, service delivery, and housing for people who are homeless and have serious mental illness. This information is in the form of fact sheets, referral lists, and publications. In addition, we help maintain an extensive resource library of homelessness literature. Lastly, to ensure successful information exchange and the adoption of effective practices we conduct workshops, trainings, conferences, and provide technical assistance to service providers on strategies to end homelessness. The CDM Group, Inc. partners with The National Center to operate NRTC, which is funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS). |
